Terms & Conditions

Before all orders are accepted you will be required to confirm you understand and abide by the terms and conditions of business, these were revised and issued for 1st July 2012.

No items are made or delivered without full payment having been made.

Tasting sessions may only be booked once a deposit has been made and are for two people only, further guests may be added at cost of £25 per guest, however only £50 of the initial deposit will be refunded against a fully paid order of £150.00 or more.  For orders under £150.00 the deposit is non refundable. On line payment is taken at time of order to ensure there are no last minute glitches in getting items out of the kitchen and into your hands. All major credit cards are accepted via our secure payment system.

Cheques are accepted however the item will only be delivered once the cheque is fully cleared.

Cash is accepted and will be fully receipted.

Deposit For wedding and substantial/complex event cakes a deposit of £50.00 is required to secure your booking and the commencement of the design process.  This is non refundable. It becomes refundable only against a fully paid wedding or substantial/complex event cakes order.

100% of final costs for most commissions are payable no less than 3 weeks in advance of the delivery date, however for wedding cakes and some large event cakes, due to the complexity of some designs payment will be expected in 2 tranches, first to be made no later than 3 months before the delivery date, the second to be made no later than 6 weeks before the delivery date.  Payment may be made by Electronic Transfer, Cash (which will be fully receipted) or Cheque. If payment is by cheque, funds must have fully cleared before the cake is handed over or delivered, if you provide a cheque later than this date and special clearance is used, the bank fee will be payable by the client.

Orders cancelled 6 weeks or less before the delivery date will incur a cost of 50% of the total cost.

Orders cancelled 5 weeks or less before the delivery date will incur a cost of 75% of the total cost.

Orders cancelled 4 weeks or less before the delivery date will incur a cost of 100% of the total cost.

Cancellation of Wedding cake orders or large scale event orders 3 months before the event or less will incur a minimum fee of 50% for the order up to 8 weeks before the event when the cost will be 100% of the order.

Design revisions will be accommodated where possible, however, significant changes may impact on the final cost of the cake.

Postal delivery of Rebeccah May orders are dispatched either by Royal Mail or a courier company (delivery organisations) depending on the item, location and delivery date.

Order before 1.00pm Monday to Thursday (GMT) and your order will be dispatched next working day.

Order before 1.00pm on a Friday and you can choose to either have your order dispatched next day delivery for an additional cost or for the following Monday (excluding bank holidays).

All orders received after 1.00pm Monday to Friday are dispatched after 2 working days.

Saturday and Sunday deliveries are by taxi, hand delivery by Rebeccah or client collection.

For those lucky people who live in the beautiful locations of the Highlands & Islands, Scilly isles, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man orders are subject to a two night service and we advise allowing 3 nights when booking to ensure arrival for your chosen delivery date.

For those of us who have the opportunity to live in the Channel Islands hand delivery as well as postal delivery options are available, contact us via enquires for further details.

We do our best to work with the delivery organisations to get the delicious items to you on the date you want, however we can’t 100% guarantee delivery dates so order a day or so earlier to be on the safe side.

When it comes to delivery processes, sometimes things to awry for the delivery organisation and Rebeccah May does not accept responsibility for delays in delivery where circumstances are out of our control and result in a disruption of service and late deliveries.

Orders will require a signature so please make sure someone is around to do the honours.  If orders are not signed for sometimes they are not left and come winging their way back home.  Redelivery can be arranged with discretion depending on circumstance.

Courier Packaging Once an item leaves the kitchens it is packaged in a cake box with acid free tissue paper and polystyrene nuggets. The box is then wrapped in protective cushioned packaging, more polystyrene nuggets, popped in a double strength postal standard cardboard box, sealed with industrial strength fragile tape, handle with care and this way up labels.  Once it leaves the kitchen all trussed up Rebeccah May is not liable for any damage.

Personal collection by a client may be arranged if you live near our kitchen locations, Appointment times are given in 30 minute slots and we can not guarantee staff availability should a client miss their slot for collection without prior warning.

Personal Hand delivery a personal service by Rebeccah May or trusted family member to locations in Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Kent, South East and South West England locations as well as Northern France, Western Seaboard of France and certain locations in Central France as well as Paris may be arranged as well as to all the Channel Islands, driver delivery costs and Rebeccah’s time will be considered and charged as applicable.

Cake designs  Cakes illustrated in wedding magazines, wedding books and on the internet are generally made using ‘display dummy’ base cakes resulting in a perfect and symmetrical looking cakes.  Please note this level of perfection is rarely possible on a real cake, which is a hand made creation.

Instructions will be included with your delivery regarding storage, shelf life, allergens and other matters.  It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure the recipient/s are aware of potential allergens. Rebeccah May accepts no liability.

Candles and sparklers are included on request, however their use is at the clients risk. Candles, sparkers, indoor fireworks, ribbons, stickers, boards and wired flowers etc are NOT edible and can be a choking hazard for anyone of any age and it is the responsibility of the client and recipient in respect of these non edible elements, Rebeccah May accepts no liability.

Nut allergens, Coeliacs, dairy allergens, vegan’s: there are a range of recipes that can be made to suit you so give us a call to discuss further if you have any queries. Please note all the same equipment is used for all production items though sterilized between uses Rebeccah May can not provide a guarantee against cross contamination of any product and accepts no liability.

Variations do occur in the products made, we are sure you appreciate that every item is hand-made, therefore there may be small variations in colour, ribbon design, and individual design detail as this is part of the artisan nature of the work you are commissioning.
